Simple Passing Drill's

1. Basic & High-Volume Drills

Great for building muscle memory, warming up hands, and perfecting passing mechanics.

  • The Triangle Drill: Place three players in a triangle 4–5 metres apart. Pass the ball clockwise using shoulder passes, then switch to counter-clockwise using bounce passes.

  • Shuttle Passing: Two lines face each other. Player A passes to Player B, runs to the back of Player B's line, and Player B repeats the process.

  • Wall Ball Reaction: Stand 2 metres from a solid wall. Throw rapid chest passes against the wall, catching and releasing as fast as possible for 30 seconds.

2. Agility & Movement Drills

These drills force players to clear out, change direction rapidly, and drive hard into open space to receive the ball.

  • The X-Drill: Set up four cones in a large square with one player in the center. External players pass to the center player, who must constantly pivot, execute a pass, and turn to face the next cone.

  • Drive and Reset: A passer stands stationary. The receiver starts right next to them, sprints 5 metres away at a 45-degree angle, changes direction sharply to drive back, catches the ball, and passes it back.

  • L-Drill Progression: Three players form an 'L' shape. The ball moves up the line, but the corner player must constantly change their angle of support to safely receive the ball.

3. Match-Realistic & Pressure Drills

Designed to train spatial awareness, intercepting skills, and quick decision-making under defensive pressure.

(Tries to Intercept)

  • Piggy in the Middle (Keep Away): Three attackers stand in a designated square with one defender in the center. Attackers must complete 10 consecutive passes without the defender intercepting or tipping the ball.

  • Intercept Alley: Create a 5x15 metre channel. Two attackers try to pass the ball from one end to the other while two defenders try to cut off the passing lanes using strict netball marking rules.

  • Three-Man Weave: Three players run down the court, crossing behind the player they just passed to. This teaches players to pass accurately while sprinting at full speed.
